Perhaps a better name would be Journal or News. I chose B.L.O.G.—who knew that “word” would become traditional? The good news is “Quilting” will always be universally recognized no matter what language we translate. We’ll still be searching for creative ways to express quilt art and new locations to shop for essentials. We desire inspirational instructors, exciting fabrics and especially quality THREADS—the glue! Our support network of quilters through satellite groups, guilds, and communities is vibrant (especially here, on Vancouver Island, BC). Join me as I share how-to articles on Threads and techniques, quilting events, profiles on fabric artists, natural things of beauty and  general interest to curious and resourceful stitchers! ...Cindy Scraba (Cinderella)

Focus on FiberArtists--Ionne McCauley (#2 in series)

Posted by cindy on Monday, January 24th, 2011

IONNE MCCAULEY of Qualicum Beach, B.C. is the featured artist in my "Focus on FiberArtists" ongoing series. She is the queen of color having co-written the book, "Color for the Terrified Quilter" (Martingale & Co.) and also grows the best blueberries and cutest sheep on Vancouver Island. She recently stated that she "lives dangerously close to me", which could mean she's grateful to have a Thread Candy Shoppe nearby. Actually, I'm the lucky one--she farms her special organic blueberries just a short distance down the way. She also drives a gorgeous tractor (much larger than mine)...cinderella

Do you have a favourite sewing machine?

 The Janome 7700 -Horizon.

How many machines do you have?

Five- I can't seem to let them go- which means I am either a pack rat or a collector- probably the first!

Which instructors or workshops have most inspired you?

Barbara Olson and David Walker.

What other things inspire you to teach and quilt?

Students inspire me all the time.

Whom is on your "instructor/quilter wish list" to meet and why? t;/p>

I love to meet all kinds of quilters- every one of them has a different great quilting story.

What would you like other quilters to know about you?

I have a small sewing studio- because for me "the bigger the space- the bigger the mess" and it is very important for me to stay organized.

What determines your thread choices in your projects?

In order of importance: 1. quality/ease of use, 2. value and colour, 3. thickness/weight, 4. fiber content.
